Akin Gump Welcomes Corporate and Capital Markets Partner Allen Shyu in Beijing

Akin Gump is pleased to announce that Allen Shyu has joined the firm as a partner in its Beijing office. He comes to Akin Gump from Stephenson Harwood, where he was the lead partner in the Beijing office. Mr. Shyu’s practice focuses on advising mid-sized and large-scale public companies on equity capital markets and corporate M&A transactions, particularly in the energy and natural resources sector. Mr. Jack Law is a partner based in our Shenzhen Office. He specializes in cross-border litigations and arbitrations. Jack is qualified in China and New York, USA. He worked at the Shenzhen District Attorney’s Office and the Superior Court of Washington D.C., USA for years before entering into private practice, with thorough understanding and experience of judicial practices in PRC and common law jurisdictions. Jack and his team have been working closely with lawyers in US, UK and Hong Kong to provide cross-border dispute resolution services for PRC and international clients. Mr. Degang Ma is a partner based in our Beijing Office. He has over 20 years of legal experience. His practice areas focus on intellectual property protection, transnational intellectual property trade (technology import), technology transfer and transformation of scientific and technological achievements, and intellectual property dispute resolution. Mr. Ma is one of the few Chinese lawyers who has represented Chinese companies in dealing with 337 investigation cases in the United States. Mr. Ma has represented many major and difficult litigation cases and commercial arbitration cases conducted by the Supreme People's Court and the High People's Court. He also provided legal services for multiple clients applying for Chinese well-known trademarks and Beijing famous trademarks. Maggie Meng, partner based in Beijing office, is specialized in cybersecurity & data compliance, personal information/ privacy protection, e-commerce and network laws and regulations. Maggie has ever worked in the Fortune 500 multinational companies and a well-known law firm for more than 10 years. Also,she served as the General Counsel and Data Protection Officer at an AI Unicorn. She has rich practical experience in TMT, especially in the field of telecommunications, Internet, market access & regulatory compliance & qualification/ licenses in artificial intelligence industry, data compliance, advertising, rights protection, etc. She has built an effective system of data compliance based on laws and regulations of China, Europe and America, which has been interviewed by CCTV. Yonghua Zhang is a partner based in our Beijing Office. Mr. Zhang specialized in intellectual property law and IP related antitrust law. He concentrates his practice primarily on patent management and related dispute resolution. Prior to joining Global Law Office, Mr. Zhang has been working in Legal Affairs Department of SIPO for 18 years, and took part in amendments to several intellectual property laws and IP-related international agreements negotiations, as well as delved into the IP-related laws and regulations. Dr. Deming Zhao is a partner based in our Shanghai office. Clyde & Co China IP Practice Expands Again

The Clyde & Co Beijing office has welcomed intellectual property lawyer Yan Gong as a Local Partner and Head of the China Trademark practice in the firm’s Chinese Joint Law Venture (JLV) Clyde & Co Westlink. Gong joins from Beijing IP specialist firm China PAT Intellectual Property Office, where she was a partner. Gong specialises in trademark prosecution work and also advises on related investigations and litigation. Previously, she practiced at Bird & Bird in Beijing and at Australian firm Allens. Gong is joined in the Beijing office by Trademark Attorneys Jin Yan, Huanan Zhu and Weiwei Zhang, as well as paralegals Yaqiong Wang and Rui Chen. Clyde & Co Westlink JLV has also appointed Yihang Liu as a Patent Attorney based in Chongqing. Partner and head of the China IP practice, Elliot Papageorgiou, says of the appointment: "The Chinese Government has been making significant investments in terms of Intellectual Property protection in recent years. Bingna Guo Joins White & Case as a Partner in Beijing

She joins White & Case from O'Melveny & Myers, where she has spent her entire career to date and was a partner from 2012, and brings nearly 20 years of experience.
