Global law firm K&L Gates LLP welcomes Sergey J. Milanov as a corporate partner in the firm’s Tokyo office. Milanov joins K&L Gates from Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP.
Fluent in English, Russian, and Japanese, Milanov has a broad corporate and finance practice that focuses on Japanese clients investing and doing business in Russia, encompassing such areas as mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, and project and trade finance transactions, in addition to advising on foreign currency, banking, and other regulatory issues of Russian law. He also has been involved in numerous large production-sharing agreements for the development of Russian oil and gas deposits and advised on green-field projects for the establishment of various Japanese subsidiaries in the Russian Federation.
David Tang, K&L Gates’ Managing Partner, Asia, stated: “We are delighted Sergey has joined us in Tokyo, and expect that his unique and growing Japan/Russia practice and deep experience on Japanese transactions will benefit many clients across the firm’s three continents.”
“It is an honor to join K&L Gates,” said Milanov. “The firm’s commitment to providing truly global services for its clients and the pace at which it continues to grow in order to maintain that goal are very impressive indeed.”
