Freshfields Appoints New Islamic Finance Head

Previously at Allen & Overy, Tarek has joined the firm as counsel based in Dubai. He brings significant experience of advising both banks and companies on Islamic finance as well as conventional finance transactions.

Tarek is part of the Freshfields’ finance team in MENA, which includes partners Tobias Mueller-Deku (Riyadh) and Joe Huse (Abu Dhabi) and counsel Harnek Shoker (Bahrain) and William Coleman (Dubai/ Riyadh).

Tarek began his career at Allen & Overy in London and qualified as an English solicitor in 2003. He worked in Allen & Overy’s Dubai office from 2006 until recently.

Tarek has an LLB (Hons) from the University of Manchester and a postgraduate diploma in law from the College of Law, London. He has dual British and Egyptian nationality and speaks English and Arabic.
