International Lawyer Leenan Yan Joins Baker & Daniels in Beijing

Leenan Yan has joined the Beijing office of Baker & Daniels LLP as counsel. He will practice as a member of the firm’s international law group.

Yan has significant experience handling cross-border transactions and advising multinational and Chinese companies on various corporate matters. He focuses his practice on transactional matters, including mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, venture capital financing and private equity transactions in a diverse set of industries. He also counsels on business formation and restructuring, private placements, public offerings of securities and corporate compliance issues.

Yan’s experience practicing law in both the U.S. and China has given him the international expertise needed to advise clients in a global business world. He began his U.S. legal career as an associate in the Boston office of the New York law firm LeBoeuf, Lamb, Greene & MacRae. Yan most recently served as senior counsel with Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton’s Shanghai office. Prior to earning his U.S. law degrees, Yan spent five years as staff counsel with China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, where he worked on a variety of Chinese law and policy matters.

Yan earned his law degrees from Harvard Law School and Northwestern University. He also holds a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Michigan Business School and a bachelor’s degree from Beijing University. Yan has been admitted to the bars of New York, Massachusetts and China, and is a member of the New York, Massachusetts and American bar associations. He is a native speaker of Mandarin Chinese and fluent in English.
