John Yiu Joins Edwards Wildman as a Litigation Partner in Hong Kong

Edwards Wildman Palmer LLP is pleased to announce that John Yiu has joined the firm as a litigation partner in Hong Kong. With his experience in complex commercial litigation and arbitration, Yiu will significantly enhance Edwards Wildman’s litigation capabilities in Hong Kong and Asia.

Yiu’s practice encompasses all aspects of litigation, including insolvency and restructuring, employment litigation, and shipping litigation. He has counseled clients on a broad range of intellectual property matters, including patents, trademarks, trade secrets and domain name litigation. Yiu is also well-versed in regulatory and compliance issues, acting for numerous bankers and directors of securities houses and listed companies related to insider dealings and market misconduct.

Before joining Edwards Wildman, Yiu was a partner of a leading litigation practice in Hong Kong. He has also held various roles with international law firms, including Paul Hastings Janofsky Walker LLP. He has presented on a variety of topics, including unfair competition laws in China, grounds of opposition of trademark registrations in China, and litigation perspectives for liquidators.

Yiu earned his master of laws in PRC Economic Laws from the University of Peking; his master of laws, with merit, from the University of London; and his bachelor of laws from the University of Hong Kong. He is fluent in English, Mandarin and Cantonese.
