White & Case Elects 35 New Partners

Global law firm White & Case LLP today announced its 2011 class of new partner promotions. The class comprises 35 new partners for the Firm around the world.

Listed by the regions in which they are based, the new partners are:

Americas

  • Douglas P. Baumstein is based in New York and has been named a partner in our Global Commercial Litigation Practice. Qualified in New York, he represents clients in complex commercial litigation, with a focus on securities- and bankruptcy-related litigation, as well as commercial disputes.
  • Richard J. Burke has been named a partner in our Global Trade Practice. Based in Washington, DC, and qualified in the District of Columbia and New York., he counsels clients on a broad range of international trade matters, including export controls, economic sanctions and foreign investment controls.
  • Donald C. Dowling, Jr., is based in New York and has been named a partner in our Global Executive Compensation, Benefits, Employment and Labor Law Interest Group. He is a New York-qualified lawyer who advises multinational corporations on global employment matters, such as cross-border compensation issues, international reductions in force and restructurings, expatriate arrangements and off-shoring issues.
  • Richard B. Furey is based in Miami and has been named a partner in our Global Asset Finance Practice. Qualified in Florida, New York and Connecticut, he focuses on asset finance and equipment leasing, including cross-border transactions.
  • Sean Goldstein has been named a partner in our Global Project Finance Practice. Based in Mexico City and qualified in New York, he has significant experience representing sponsors and financial institutions in a wide variety of infrastructure and energy projects, as well as in asset finance work.
  • Stefan M. Mentzer is based in New York and has been promoted to partner in our Global Intellectual Property Practice. Qualified in New York, he practices intellectual property and copyright law within IP litigation and works on significant commercial litigation in the pharmaceutical sector.
  • Charles J. Pesant has been named a partner in our Global Capital Markets Practice. Based in New York and qualified in New York and New Jersey, he has worked on a broad range of securitization and structured finance transactions, assisting clients with private placements, Rule 144A and Regulation S offerings and commercial paper, as well as revolving and syndicated credit facilities.
  • Jane Plomley is based in Washington, DC, and has been named a partner in our Global Intellectual Property Practice. Qualified in the District of Columbia, New York and Australia, she serves clients in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries and has experience in intellectual property licensing and commercial transactions.
  • Carolyn J. Vardi has been named a partner in our Global Mergers & Acquisitions Practice. She is a New York-qualified lawyer and based in New York, where she represents buyers and sellers in domestic and international public and private mergers and acquisitions, including joint ventures and equity co-investments.

Europe, Middle East and Africa

  • Tom Bartlett is based in London and has been named a partner in our Global Project Finance Practice. His experience is focused on large multi-sourced project finance transactions involving a variety of lender groups, including commercial banks, international financial institutions and export credit agencies.
  • James J. Black has been named a partner in our Global Capital Markets and Mergers & Acquisitions Practices. Based in Frankfurt, he is a New York-qualified lawyer whose practice focuses on US securities law and corporate advice, with emphasis on equity capital markets and mergers and acquisitions.
  • Lucian Bondoc is based in Bucharest and has been named a partner in our Global Mergers & Acquisitions Practice. A Romanian-qualified lawyer, his expertise spans a wide-range of complex legal issues and large investment projects in Romania, primarily in the corporate, competition and labor fields.
  • Florian Degenhardt has been named partner in our Global Banking Practice. Qualified in Germany, he is based in Hamburg, where he advises banks, investors and corporations on banking and finance law, as well as corporate law, including mergers and acquisitions.
  • Denise A. Diallo is based in Paris and has been named a partner in our Global Banking Practice. She is a French- and New York-qualified lawyer who counsels clients on a range of lending and other corporate finance transactions, including syndicated leveraged financings, mezzanine financings, debtor-in-possession financings, unsecured financings, cash-flow and asset-based loans.
  • Piotr M. Gałuszyński has been named a partner in our Global Banking Practice. Based in Warsaw and qualified in Poland, he focuses on banking and finance and has extensive experience in commercial law.
  • Benedikt Gillessen is based in Frankfurt and has been named a partner in our Global Capital Markets Practice. A German-qualified lawyer, his expertise is company law, with a focus on stock corporation law, capital markets and legal advice to publicly listed companies.
  • Mikko Hulkko has been named a partner in our Global Capital Markets Practice. Based in Paris, he is a New York-qualified lawyer who advises both underwriters and issuers in connection with international equity and debt offerings, including listings on one or more securities exchanges.
  • Edward L. Keller is based in Budapest and has been named a partner in our Global Mergers & Acquisitions Practice. A New York-qualified lawyer and admitted as a foreign lawyer to the Hungarian Bar, he concentrates on cross-border mergers and acquisitions and private equity matters and has broad experience representing public and private issuers, underwriters and selling shareholders in both equity and debt offerings.
  • Bertrand Liard has been named a partner in our Global Intellectual Property Practice. A French-qualified lawyer who is based in Paris, he focuses on intellectual property and information technology, with expertise in transfer agreements, licensing, outsourcing and privacy matters.
  • Kirsti Massie is based in London and has been named a partner in our Global Project Finance Practice. Qualified in English law, her practice focuses on energy projects, with expertise in energy and emissions trading and renewable projects.
  • Louise Mor has been named a partner in our Global Asset Finance Practice. Based in London, she is an English-qualified lawyer who concentrates on international asset finance and leasing, primarily in the aviation and rail industries.
  • Patrick Narr is based in Hamburg and has been named a partner in our Global Mergers & Acquisitions Practice. A German-qualified lawyer, he focuses on distressed mergers and acquisitions, corporate law, restructuring and privatizations in the health care industry.
  • Kevin Ng has been named a partner in our Global Capital Markets Practice. Based in London and qualified in New Zealand, he concentrates on corporate trustee work and has broad experience in equity and debt capital markets, advising trustees on the international issue of Eurobonds, high-yield bonds and shares.
  • Delia Pachiu is based in Bucharest and has been named partner in our Global Project Finance Practice. A Romanian-qualified lawyer, she advises clients in France, Spain, Germany and Austria on mergers and acquisitions, energy, financing and real estate matters.
  • Euan Pinkerton has been named a partner in our Global Project Finance Practice. An English-qualified lawyer, he is based in London, where he focuses on structuring complex secured lending transactions, including Sharī’a-compliant Islamic financings.
  • Leïla Röder is based in Munich and has been named a partner in our Global Bank Finance Practice. Qualified in Germany and England and Wales, she focuses on banking and finance law, with expertise in restructuring and refinancing transactions, national and international leveraged buyout transactions, strategic acquisitions, corporate loans and public-to-private transactions.
  • Matthew Secomb has been named a partner in our Global International Arbitration Practice. Based in Paris and qualified in France, England and Australia, he concentrates on international commercial arbitration, primarily construction- and energy-related disputes.
  • Vit Stehlík is based in Prague and has been named a partner in our Global Project Finance Practice. A Czech-qualified lawyer, he focuses on mergers and acquisitions, energy and aviation law, privatizations and export financing.
  • Marcin Studniarek has been named a partner in our Global Capital Markets and Mergers & Acquisitions Practices. Based in Warsaw, he is a Polish-qualified lawyer whose practice focuses on commercial and securities law, as well as corporate governance issues.
  • Jeremy Trinder is based in London and has been named a partner in our Global Banking Practice. Qualified in English law, he concentrates on real estate finance and has a broad range of experience in securitization, real estate finance, general bank lending and restructuring.
  • Tobias Freiherr von Tucher has been named a partner in our Global Intellectual Property Practice. Based in Munich and qualified in Germany, he focuses on intellectual property, licensing and information technology law, as well as general commercial law.
  • Michael Turrini is based in London and has been named a partner in our Global Construction Interest Group. Qualified in Australia, he focuses on both contentious and non-contentious construction work and has advised on purpose-drafted and standard form construction disputes, including engineering procurement construction; engineering, procurement, construction, maintenance; design/build and traditional lump-sum construct-only contracts.

Asia

  • Baldwin Cheng has been named a partner in our Global Banking Practice. Based in Beijing, he is a Hong Kong- and English-qualified lawyer who advises banks and other financial institutions in secured and unsecured syndicated and bilateral bank financings, including acquisition financings.
  • Yuji Ogiwara is based in Tokyo and has been named a partner in our Global Commercial Litigation Practice. A licensed Japanese attorney (bengoshi), he focuses on commercial disputes and employment/labor matters, advising on a broad range of issues, including corporate matters, mergers and acquisitions, business tie-ups and commercial trade.
  • Charlie Wilson has been named a partner in our Global Mergers & Acquisitions Practice. Based in Singapore, he is an English-qualified lawyer who focuses on private equity and public and private mergers and acquisitions, as well as structured finance transactions.

This class of 35 new partner promotions will become effective January 1, 2011. White & Case has made a significant investment in new partners in 2010. In addition to this newly elected class, the Firm added a total of 59 new partners, including promotions and laterals, since the start of the year.
