BEITEN BURKHARDT Recruits Salans Partner for its Shanghai Office

Matthias Müller joined the international commercial law firm BEITEN BURKHARDT on 1 September 2011 and will head the Shanghai office as Salary Partner from now on.

Matthias Müller (38) transferred from Salans, where he had been Beijing Office Managing Partner since 2008. At BEITEN BURKHARDT, he replaces Willi Vett, who has returned to Germany. After having provided legislative  advice on an international cooperation project with China for two years, Mr Müller began his career as a lawyer at Haarmann Hemmelrath and, in 2007, he joined Salans with Haarmann Hemmelrath Shanghai. In 2008, he transferred to the firm’s Beijing office, which he headed until his departure.

Matthias Müller comments on his transfer as follows: “A major part of my clients has always come from German-speaking countries. For this business, BEITEN BURKHARDT offers me a strong presence, excellent support in Germany and a very well-aligned local infrastructure.

Frank Obermann, Managing Partner at BEITEN BURKHARDT, comments as follows: “We are glad that we have won over such an excellent lawyer for BEITEN BURKHARDT’s Shanghai office. It will also further promote our Asia Practice that Susanne Rademacher, Equity Partner and head of the Beijing office, and Matthias Müller in Shanghai will in the future intertwine our two Asia offices even stronger, with the support of Dr Björn Etgen.”

With Dr Björn Etgen, BEITEN BURKHARDT’s Shanghai office currently consists of one Equity Partner and, including Matthias Müller, two Salary Partners and five Associates.
