Bracewell & Giuliani LLP is pleased to announce that Marco P. Rodrigues has joined its Dubai office, where he will focus his practice on banking and financing transactions in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and internationally.
Rodrigues has experience representing both lenders and borrowers in relation to sophisticated multi-jurisdictional transactions in a variety of sectors. He also provides advice in matters relating to project finance, bankruptcy, insolvency, restructuring and shipping. He has been trained in both civil and common law and has worked on a wide range of U.S./Canada cross-border transactions and has a significant understanding of Canadian and U.S. laws relating to secured lending.
“We are thrilled to have Marco joining us in Dubai,” said John Brantley, partner and head of Bracewell & Giuliani’s international practice. “His unique combination of civil and common law experience is well suited to the needs of our clients in the region. We are pleased to add banking and finance services in the Middle East as we continue to grow our corporate/M&A and oil and gas practices there.”
Rodrigues has practiced law in the UAE since 2008 and has been able to draw on his French civil law roots to develop particular experience in the interpretation of UAE law (namely the UAE Civil Code). This has enabled him to guide clients, whether local or international, through the complexities of carrying out business in the UAE and, more broadly, in the Middle East.
Rodrigues is a graduate of the University of Montreal and is admitted to the Bar of Quebec, Canada.
Bracewell & Giuliani’s Dubai office serves as a vital part of the firm’s well-established global energy and finance practices. At the core of the firm’s Middle East practice, its Dubai-based attorneys represent local and international clients in the UAE and in the other Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) States of Oman, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain and Kuwait, in addition to nearby jurisdictions outside the Gulf States and throughout the region.
Attorneys in the Dubai office provide clients with counsel in banking and financing matters, M&A transactions, the establishment of joint ventures, and issues related to labor, corporate governance and establishing operations in the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC).
