National insurance law firm Moray & Agnew has further strengthened its Sydney the appointment of special counsel Brian Moroney and Robyn Hickie.
Michael Pitt, national managing partner at Moray & Agnew, said: “Brian and Robyn bring a wealth of experience and are recognised leaders in their respective fields, both by clients and their peers. Both will be a tremendous asset to our insurance practice and to our clients.”
Brian Moroney is a leading figure in insurance law. He has for over 10 years been appointed to numerous law society committees, court and tribunal user groups, held various independent appointments including advising government on policy and legislative reform and has represented lawyers and their clients’ interests in several inquiries and policy debates. Brian is also a regular industry key note speaker and author.
Most recently Brian ran his own insurance practice, Moroney Lawyers. He brings with him extensive experience advising Australia’s major insurers in common law, workers compensation, public and products liability, and construction and engineering liability matters.
Commenting on his appointment, Brian said: “I approached Moray & Agnew because I see them as leaders in their field. Their exclusive focus mirrors my own and nicely aligns with the values of my insurer clients.”
“Insurers increasingly want legal providers who can service them Australia-wide across all their lines of insurance. With my clients’ interests in mind I wanted to integrate my practice into a national insurance firm,” he said.
Robyn Hickie has over 22 years of experience and has specialised exclusively in insurance law. She has worked both in private practice and in-house. Most recently Robyn was a partner at Lander & Rogers in Sydney and headed up their workers compensation practice. Before that, Robyn was an in-house lawyer at HIH for seven years, and commenced her legal career at Hunt & Hunt.
These two appointments follow closely on the back of securing financial lines insurance expert Peter Tredinnick who joined the firm’s Sydney office as a partner from DLA Piper.
