Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP announced today that William Chun Fai Woohas joined the firm’s sizable capital markets team as a partner, based in Hong Kong. An accomplished and highly respected capital markets lawyer with more than a decade of experience in the region, William focuses on representing issuers and underwriters in regulatory and corporate matters involving Hong Kong listed companies.
William has worked on some of Hong Kong’s largest and highest profile capital markets transactions, including representing the underwriters, JP Morgan, ICBC International and CLSA, in the HK$1.73 billion (US$223 million) initial public offering (IPO) on the Main Board of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange (HKSE) of Trony Solar Holdings Company Limited.
Other recent significant matters William has worked on include representing the H share underwriters in the US$8.9 billion A and H share rights offering of Bank of China Limited (one of the largest secondary offerings in 2010) and MI Energy Corporation in connection with production sharing contracts in its 2010 Hong Kong IPO. His clients include Bank of China, JP Morgan, Morgan Stanley, Nomura and UBS.

William received his M.A. and LL.B from Cambridge University, where he received several awards for outstanding academic achievements, and his PCLL from the University of Hong Kong with distinction. He is admitted to practice law in England and Wales and in Hong Kong. In 1997, he joined the Hong Kong office of a leading UK law firm where he practiced for 11 years and became a partner, followed by two years as a partner with a leading U.S. law firm.
