Simmons & Simmons Promotes Eight to Partnership

Simmons & Simmons has promoted eight to its partnership. The promotions reflect the international spread and expertise across the firm.

Commenting on the promotions, Simmons & Simmons senior partner David Dickinson, said: ‘‘All eight individuals have demonstrated outstanding expertise and commitment to our clients, and their promotion reflects our commitment to career development and recognition of exceptional talent.’’

The new partners are:

Yves Baratte, Projects – Paris

Yves joined the firm in 2001 and qualified as a French Avocat in March 2002. He has expertise in advising international corporate clients on complex power, water and mining projects internationally, with a particular focus on North and Sub-Saharan Africa.

Eric Boillot, Dispute Resolution – Paris

Eric joined the firm in November 2005 and qualified as a French Avocat in January 1997. He specialises in finance litigation, as well as pre-contentious issues.

Oliver Heinisch, European Competition & Regulatory – London

Oliver joined the firm in 2002, and is a qualified Rechtsanwalt, and solicitor in England and Wales. He did an internship at the European Commission in Brussels, and specialises in cartel enforcement and abuse of dominant position cases. He is active in the Life Sciences and TMT sectors.

Lewis Ho, Intellectual Property – Shanghai

Lewis joined the firm in November 2007, having been admitted as a solicitor in Hong Kong in 2000. He specialises in patent and other IP litigation to technology-rich companies. He also has significant experience of advising Life Sciences companies on their R&D projects in China.

Adrian Nizzola, Projects – Abu Dhabi

Adrian joined the firm in 2008, and before that, held positions at Qatar Petroleum, including General Counsel and advisor to H.E. the Minister of Energy and Industry. He is a senior lawyer with 25 years’ experience in oil and gas, and finance. He also holds LLMs in each of law and finance.

Darren Oswick, Tax – London

Darren joined the firm as a trainee in 1999, and qualified in 2001 as a solicitor in England and Wales. He has a broad tax practice, with particular expertise in employment tax and private equity.

Johan Polet, Dispute Resolution – Amsterdam

Johan joined the firm in 1998. He focuses on commercial litigation, and has worked on a number of high-profile cases. He has held various teaching positions and regularly publishes on litigation and liability issues.

Davide Sportelli, Employment – Milan

Davide joined the firm in 2001. He has significant experience of advising major financial institutions and large corporations on all contentious and non-contentious aspects of Italian employment law.
