Global law firm White & Case LLP announced today that it has boosted its regional corporate client offering with the hire of new partner, Virginia Tam, in Hong Kong.
Ms Tam joins the Firm with a wealth of experience in China and Hong Kong-based cross-border corporate and securities transactions, as well as in international corporate finance matters with US securities law and/or Hong Kong listing rules elements. These include pre-IPO private equity investments, initial public offerings, PIPE transactions and follow-on public offerings for Chinese businesses in the US and Hong Kong.
Prior to joining White & Case, Ms Tam was a partner with Jones Day.
Commenting on the appointment, Barrye Wall, Managing Partner for Asia, said: “Virginia’s move to White & Case presents a terrific opportunity for the Firm both in Greater China by strengthening further our Hong Kong local law practice, and across our network of 37 offices worldwide. Given that we are seeing more and more work across the network from China-headquartered clients, Virginia’s cross-border skill set, which includes helping Chinese companies list in the US and Hong Kong and being fluent in English, Mandarin and Cantonese, will be welcome news for the Firm’s China clients seeking opportunities abroad.”
William Kirschner, Asia Head of White & Case’s Corporate/M&A practice, said: “It is important to us to be able to continue support of our clients as they expand internationally, whether it is from China to Hong Kong or further afield. Virginia’s appointment adds considerable strength to our Greater China corporate offering and to our Asia offering generally. We are delighted to have her on board.”
Ms Tam is dual-qualified in Hong Kong and New York and holds a JD degree from Columbia Law School. She also holds a Master’s degree in Physics from Yale University and a Bachelor’s degree in Natural Sciences from Cambridge University.
