Jones Day adds to IP capabilities in China with arrival of Horace Lam

The global law firm Jones Day is pleased to announce that Horace Lam has joined the Firm’s Intellectual Property Practice in its Beijing office as a partner. Mr. Lam arrives from Hogan Lovells where he was the Local Managing Partner and head of their China IP Practice.

Mr. Lam is a leading IP lawyer in China and practices in all areas of intellectual property, doing both contentious and non-contentious patent, trademark, and copyright work. He represents multinational companies in enforcing their intellectual property rights in Asia and has handled numerous IP disputes in China and Hong Kong. Mr. Lam has advised clients on licensing, franchising, and sale of intellectual property rights and has handled merger control, non-merger investigations, and litigation in Europe and China, with a particular focus on antitrust aspects of intellectual property.

Mr. Lam has worked with companies in the consumer products, luxury goods, automobiles, software, and telecommunications industries. He is a member of the International Trademark Association (INTA) and the Asia Patent Practitioners Association (APPA). He is also recognized by Chambers Asia and Asia Pacific Legal 500 as a leading individual.

Mr. Lam received his Bachelor of Laws degree and his Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of New South Wales, Australia. He is a member of the Hong Kong and Australia bar associations, and is fluent in English, Mandarin, and Cantonese.
