Mallesons acted as Australian counsel for GE Capital Australia and GE Capital UK who have provided new facilities for Accolade Wines. The facilities will assist in financing Accolade Wines’ ongoing working capital needs.
Accolade Wines is the number one wine company by volume in the UK and Australia, with a portfolio of brands including Hardys, Houghton and Leasingham. Accolade Wines was acquired by CHAMP Private Equity in early 2011.
The Mallesons’ team was led by Banking Partners Richard Hayes, Alex Regan and James Mok, who were assisted by other members of the Mallesons teams including Senior Associate Greg Nicholas and associate Anisha Wijewardene. Wragge & Co acted as UK counsel for GE Capital.
Alex Regan said: “This is the second large international ABL facility Mallesons has closed in the last four months. The deal follows an emerging global trend of private equity firms utilising asset based facilities to assist in financing growth of their portfolio assets. This was an exciting deal to be a part of and involved us using our expertise to assist GE Capital in reaching innovative and commercial solutions to the cross-border challenges which the deal presented.”
