Singapore Firms Hiring Personnel to Specialize in Southeast Asia

Singapore is one of the prominent business and legal hubs in Southeast Asia. This city-state is attractive for its stable economy, professional culture and great quality of life, and recently has become even more desirable for those seeking legal recruitment. The economy is doing incredibly well here – Reuters reported that Singapore stock shares rose for the third straight session in 2012, and the Singapore bourse has gained 2.4 percent in June so far.

New government legislation has allowed more law firms to apply to open a branch in Singapore, and some new appointments show that experienced attorneys can find plenty of open positions here.

For example, Asian Legal Business reported that United Kingdom law firm Nabarro recently appointed David Kim as a partner in its Singapore office. Nabarro wishes to branch out in Southeast Asia, especially South Korea, and Kim is a specialist in the region.

“Whilst recognising our licence restrictions in Singapore, we will use our Singapore office to work with South Korean companies who are transacting in Southeast Asia as well as in other key jurisdictions in Asia,” said Nabarro partner Emerson Holmes, according to the news source. “We expect that this will develop and grow further, given David’s experience. We hope that matters will complement our core focus in the office which includes infrastructure projects, energy, and international arbitration.”
