“Given the economics and the possibility of bringing LNG in to domestic markets, we are carefully considering acquiring assets or companies to enter the U.S. shale gas sectors,” said Chang, according to the news source. “We are also studying the feasibility of entering the Chinese shale gas business.”
South Korea is looking for new assets in order to boost its overall barrels of oil output, with a goal of 500,000 barrels per day by 2017. The country is currently the number five crude oil importer in the world.
