Ashurst has added further depth to one of Australia’s leading Energy & Resources legal practices with the addition of Katie Winterbourne as a new partner in its Perth office.
Managing Partner of Ashurst in Australia John Carrington said: “The addition of Katie to our E&R practice enhances our offering to clients in one of our fastest growing practice areas.
“Katie comes from an internal role at a global diversified resources company where, for the past four years, she has gained a first-hand understanding of the importance of timely and concise legal advice to influence sound business decision making,” Mr Carrington said.
“This experience, combined with an already strong national Energy & Resources team and the global resources and expertise of Ashurst, enables us to provide the high-level legal advice our clients want and need.”
Ms Winterbourne’s experience as a legal manager within the resources company has given her a wide breadth of experience in providing legal support on nickel operations on business and mine development, regulatory compliance, health and safety and maintaining a licence to operate, to port access, supply chain contracting and dispute resolution.
According to Ashurst E&R Practice Leader Geoff Gishubl: “Katie will be an enormous asset to our team, with her clear understanding of the needs of clients combined with a very firm understanding of the legal requirements in E&R projects, both large and small.”
Prior to taking up the in-house role Katie had worked in Ashurst’s (then Blake Dawson) Melbourne and Perth offices on significant property and E&R matters.
