Baker & McKenzie Appoints Global Life Sciences Partner

Baker & McKenzie has appointed leading Life Sciences partner, Amanda Turnill, effective 6 May. Amanda joins the Firm from DLA Piper and will co-chair Baker & McKenzie’s Australian Life Sciences group with partner Ben McLaughlin. She will be based in Sydney.

Amanda has more than 20 years’ experience as a product liability litigator and regulatorylawyer, having advised pharmaceutical, medical technology, biotechnology, and other life sciences companies in Australia, the UK, Europe, USA and Asia. Her key clients include several top 20 global pharmaceutical and medical technology companies.

Over her career in Australia and the UK, Amanda has advised on a broad range of issues arising in the life cycle of drug development and commercialisation. These have included product liability proceedings, class actions, Therapeutic Goods legislation and regulations, crisis and risk management, product stewardship and compliance, and PBS pricing and reimbursement issues.

On Amanda’s appointment, McLaughlin said: “Amanda will add depth and experience to our strong existing team of lawyers advising life sciences clients. Immensely experienced, she was the Global Co-Chair of Life Sciences at her previous firm.

“Before becoming a lawyer, Amanda was a registered nurse so she has been able to combine her knowledge of health issues and her interest in the life sciences industry with law. It’s this depth of experience that makes Amanda one of the most highly sought after lawyers in this industry.”

She has been listed in Who’s Who of Australian Women since 2006.
