Baker & McKenzie Strengthens CIS Corporate Practice with Partner Relocation

Baker & McKenzie has strengthened its CIS corporate practice with the relocation of Partner James Richards to its Moscow office.

With over 200 lawyers in its Almaty, Baku, Kyiv, Moscow and St.Petersburg offices, Baker & McKenzie has one of the largest legal practices in the region. It is also the longest-established international firm in the CIS, having had an office in Russia since 1989. With considerable experience of leading transactions in the UK and CIS, James Richards has been a Partner in Baker & McKenzie’s M&A practice for 12 years. He until recently led one of the London office’s four Corporate Groups, and is an active member of the firm’s global mergers and acquisitions practice group. His representative clients include Management Consulting Group Plc, Alliance Boots and Global Blue.

The CIS is increasingly important for the Firm. In recent months Baker & McKenzie’s corporate practice has worked on a number of prominent transactions including the listing of Exillon Energy on the London Stock Exchange, the first international Russian IPO since before the financial crisis; and the US$500m Eurobond by Ukrainian mining company Metinvest BV.
