Basil Hwang Joined Zhong Lun Law Firm as a Partner in the Hong Kong office

Zhong Lun Law Firm and its Hong Kong associated firm Boughton Peterson Yang Anderson (BPYA) are delighted to announce the addition of Basil Hwang as a Partner in the Hong Kong office. Basil joins the firm from Dechert where he was the Managing Partner for the past seven years.

Basil is a cross-border M&A specialist with over 16 years’ experience in the market. He represents Chinese corporations, financial institutions and sovereign wealth funds in multi-billion dollar outbound acquisitions and investments as well as private equity funds and global corporations on Asian acquisitions and listed company takeovers. Basil’s notable representations include the acquisition by Kering (parent company of Gucci and other global brands) of the Asian luxury retailer Qeelin, the multi-billion dollar restructuring of the Asian operations of Delphi by a consortium of private equity funds (Asia Counsel Deal of the Year 2009) and cross-border investments by Chinese state entities in the financial, energy, materials and agricultural sectors. Basil also regularly counsels financial institution clients on regulatory and licensing issues in Hong Kong as well as fund structuring, formation and investments.
