Blake Dawson’s Associated Indonesian Firm Expands

Blake Dawson’s associated firm in Jakarta, Oentoeng Suria & Partners, will welcome a new partner and more than a dozen associates, as it expands its capability for clients across the region.

Atik Susanto will join Oentoeng Suria & Partners (OSP) next month as a partner of the firm, together with his team of 13 associates.

Mr Susanto, who is currently the principal of Susanto & Partners (SnP), and his team are specialist advisers to Indonesian and foreign clients on M&A, banking and finance, corporate, restructuring and capital markets issues, particularly in the energy and resources, property, telecoms, maritime, plantations and infrastructure sectors.

Mr Susanto’s career has spanned investment banking, corporate finance, and debt capital markets with Merrill Lynch, commercial legal practice in an Indonesian firm and, since 2009, as principal of the firm he founded, Susanto & Partners.

Mr Susanto said: “This move will bring together the local touch and the international expertise of both OSP and SnP.  The enlarged team will also enable the firm to handle bigger and more numerous deals without sacrificing client attention and client focus.”

Felix Soebagjo, Chairman of Oentoeng Suria & Partners, Chairman of the Capital Market Lawyers Association (HKHPM) and Secretary-General of the Indonesian Capital Market Arbitration Board (BAPMI), said: “I am very pleased that we will welcome Atik to join OSP as a partner of the firm in the coming month.  He has an outstanding record and reputation in Indonesian M&A, finance and securities law.  He and his team will double the size of OSP and add significantly to the firm’s ability to advise Indonesian and foreign corporate clients.”

John Carrington, Managing Partner of Blake Dawson, said: “It is a fantastic boost to the capability of OSP, our associated firm in Jakarta, to have such a skilled and experienced lawyer as Atik join the team.  Our firms’ clients in Australia, China, Japan and elsewhere around the region investing in Indonesia will benefit greatly from his expert counsel and the skills of OSP’s expanded team.”

“Atik already enjoys a strong reputation among Singapore and Hong Kong-based firms for his expertise in managing transactions and other projects in Indonesia, and has been involved in several significant matters involving clients of our firm.”
