Leading international law firm Clifford Chance today announces the addition of Ying White to its Beijing office as a partner in the Corporate practice. She will focus on both onshore and offshore funds formation for private equity and hedge funds, RMB funds, and offshore investments by Chinese institutions.

“Since the global financial crisis, we’ve seen global private investment funds shift their focus to China, and at the same time Chinese institutions and investors are increasingly seeking global investment management expertise,” said Mark Shipman, Clifford Chance’s Head of Funds, Asia Pacific. “We have a solid team across Asia Pacific of nine partners and counsel, supported by 14 lawyers, who advise on funds and investment on a regular basis. The addition of Ying will not only help the firm maintain its leadership position in this sector, but will also strengthen our capability to meet the ever-increasing demand in China for expertise in this area.”

“We are delighted Ying will be joining our team in Beijing,” said Stephen Harder, Clifford Chance’s China Managing Partner. “Ying is originally from China and has an excellent understanding of the business and commercial realities of clients operating here. We welcome the local knowledge and impressive legal background that she will bring as she assists with the expected growth in the funds and investment arena.”

Peter Charlton, Clifford Chance’s Managing Partner, Asia Pacific said, “It’s a very exciting time to be practising in China, and our goal of continuing to grow there is an important part of our Asia Pacific strategy. We are very happy to have someone with such outstanding qualifications and excellent reputation join our practice which has been built on decades of experience in China’s markets.”
