Dechert Boosts Moscow Corporate Practice with the Arrival of Taras Oksyuk

Global specialist law firm Dechert LLP announced today that it is expanding its corporate and real estate expertise in Russia with the arrival of partner Dr. Taras Oksyuk, who will lead the firm’s Russian real estate and construction practices in Moscow. Oksyuk was most recently a partner at a major transatlantic international law firm, where he headed the Russian real estate and construction practices.

Oksyuk represents major Russian and international clients across a broad spectrum of real estate transactions throughout Russia, including the sale and lease of all types of real estate; the implementation of greenfield and brownfield projects; and construction, development and mortgage transactions, as well as related environmental matters. His recent representations include international investment fund Discovery Russian Realty on the implementation of an approximately $1 billion development project in downtown Moscow, X5 Retail Group on its $1.65 billion acquisition of the Kopeyka supermarket chain – the largest acquisition in the Russian retail sector to date, and Marriott Group on the management of its Russian real estate portfolio. Oksyuk also recently represented O1 Properties, the leading Russian property fund, on the $500 million sale of a major business center in downtown Moscow to Kaspersky Lab.

“I am excited to join Dechert. The firm has an excellent reputation both in Russia and globally for acting in complex, high value cross-border deals. I look forward to helping further build-up Dechert’s corporate and real estate capabilities in Moscow,” Oksyuk said.

“We are very pleased that Taras is joining us. He is a highly regarded Russian real estate and construction expert who will bring a wealth of experience to our corporate and real estate practices in Moscow,” said Laura Brank, Moscow Managing Partner and head of Dechert’s Russia & CIS practice.

Oksyuk is recognized as a leading real estate and construction lawyer by top international legal directories Chambers Europe (2009-2013) and The Legal 500 EMEA (2007-2013). Oksyuk is also ranked as a leading real estate lawyer in Russia by The Best Lawyers (2011-2013).

A member of the Moscow Bar, he is fluent in Russian, English and German. He has published more than 50 articles on a range of subjects in leading Russian law and international property magazines, and he has taught civil law at Moscow State University since 2005.
