DLA Piper Bolsters National Employment Capability with New Brisbane Partner Murray Procter

DLA Piper today announces the appointment of leading employment lawyer, Murray Procter, to its partnership. Murray joins the firm from Norton Rose and will commence in the DLA Piper Brisbane office on 27 February 2012.

Murray has specialised in industrial relations and employment law for more than 15 years, advising employers in a number of sectors including energy and resources, financial institutions, health, human services and government. Murray is experienced in all areas of workplace law including industrial strategy, bargaining and disputes, discrimination, dismissals, workplace health and safety, executive employment including restraint of trade, and workplace investigations.

Tony Holland, Managing Partner, Australia, said Murray Procter’s appointment represented a strategic hire for the firm.

“Not only does Murray’s appointment expand our strong national employment capabilities, but he represents another important lateral partner hire in Brisbane, in addition to the five other senior lateral hires in the past six months.”

Allan Drake-Brockman, Australian head of Workplace Relations, Employment & Safety, said “Murray’s significant experience in the area of industrial relations law will be of great benefit to our clients, particularly given the large increase in industrial relations work we are seeing as a result of major infrastructure projects in the region.”
