Dmitry Kurochkin Joins Dechert’s Litigation Group in Moscow

International law firm Dechert LLP announced today that leading Russian litigator Dmitry Kurochkin has joined the firm as a partner in its dispute resolution practice in Moscow. Prior to joining Dechert, Kurochkin worked in the Moscow office of another international law firm, where he served as head of litigation, Central Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and head of the Moscow employment group.

“I am excited to be joining Dechert, a firm that is widely recognized for its focus on complex multijurisdictional disputes, both in Russia and globally, and which offers a compelling platform both for my practice and my clients,” said Kurochkin.

Kurochkin joins Dechert’s litigation practice that spans the United States, Europe, Asia and the Middle East.

“Dmitry is an important addition to our global litigation team,” said Dechert chairman Andrew J. Levander. “Our clients will benefit from his knowledge and experience.”

Kurochkin focuses his practice on commercial, corporate, shareholder, employment, regulatory litigation and arbitration matters for both domestic and international clients. He has been recognized by The Legal 500 EMEA and Chambers Global, which noted he is a “prominent practitioner with a wealth of experience [who] acts in a wide array of industrial sectors in both litigation and arbitration” in 2011 and a “measured and unflappable litigator” in 2010.

“We are delighted Dmitry is joining our team,” said Laura M. Brank, head of Dechert’s Russia and CIS Practice. “He is recognized as one of Russia’s leading litigators, and adds a wealth of experience and insight to our Russian dispute resolution practice, highlighting the firm’s commitment to providing first-class client service in Russia and throughout the region, both contentious and non-contentious.”

A Russian-qualified lawyer, Kurochkin is a graduate of the international law faculty of the Moscow State Institute for International Relations (MGIMO) and received a Master of Laws from the University of Frankfurt am Main, Germany. He regularly lectures on international commercial arbitration at MGIMO and acts as an arbitrator in international disputes. He is fluent in English, French and German, as well as his native Russian.
