John Moutsopoulos, Zein El Hassan and Paul Humphreys today join Norton Rose Australia from Clayton Utz, adding significant depth to the firm’s funds and financial services offering.

Norton Rose Australia’s focus on financial institutions is one of the firm’s six key industry sectors which also include energy, infrastructure, mining and commodities, transport, technology and innovation, and pharmaceuticals and life sciences.
Moutsopoulos was a senior partner at Clayton Utz and headed the financial services group and co-headed the investment funds group. He works in funds management, financial services law, capital raisings and structuring and advising on financial products and services.
El Hassan was an investment funds and financial services partner at Clayton Utz. He advises on all aspects of managed funds, superannuation, life insurance, structured and retirement products, corporate and investment governance, product and entity rationalisation as well as mergers, acquisitions and divestments within the financial services industry.
Humphreys is a senior tax and structuring partner. Prior to his time as partner at Clayton Utz, he was the Global Tax Manager at AMP Group. He has had a particular focus on the financial services industry for over 20 years and has experience in mergers and acquisitions, structuring and managing major projects, and advising on tax efficient income flows and funding structures.
Their arrival follows the appointment of up to 22 lateral partners in as many months at Norton Rose Australia, all of whom strengthen the practice’s expertise in its key industry sectors.
