Corrs Chambers Westgarth has expanded its market leading energy and resources practice with the appointment of James Minchinton to partner in Brisbane.
James is the third new Corrs partner appointed in the past few months and will be working alongside the firm’s other leading Brisbane Energy & Resources practitioners which include John Kelly, Michael MacGinley and Bruce Adkins.
Having practiced in energy and resources law for the past decade, James has accumulated extensive experience in this important area of industry. He has acted for a number of Australian and international clients on many major resources projects including advising in the fields of project development, exploration activities, regulatory approvals, landowner issues, overlapping tenures, Land Court hearings, native title, cultural heritage, commodity sales and M&A transactions.
James has also undertaken a number of in-house legal secondments for major mining and petroleum companies throughout his career, and was previously a statistician and process engineer at the Boyne Island Aluminium Smelter.

James is also an active participant in the Queensland legal industry and is a member of the Queensland State Committee of the Australian Energy & Resources Law Association (AMPLA) and the Queensland Law Society Committee on Mining & Resources Law. He joins Corrs today from Clayton Utz.
