Norton Rose Announces New Banking Partner in Moscow

Norton Rose (Central Europe) LLP, the international legal practice, today announced that Alexander Tsakoev joined the banking practice in Moscow as a partner on 1 January 2011.

Alexander joins from the Moscow office of Herbert Smith, where he was a senior associate in their banking and finance practice. Previously he worked at Norton Rose (Central Europe) LLP in Moscow as an associate from 2002 to 2005. He is a Russian qualified lawyer who graduated from the Moscow State University of International Relations.

Alexander has extensive experience in running English and Russian law governed finance transactions across a full range of different types of financing in Russia. He advises both lenders and borrowers and has developed a particular expertise in the energy, metals and mining sectors as well as real estate. He also has considerable experience in acquisition finance, asset finance, restructurings M&A and regulatory matters in the banking sector.

Alexander joins the practice together with Ksenia Zolotova, who was a senior associate at SNR Denton.

The appointment of Alexander follows the recent addition of Yaroslav Klimov as a partner in charge of the dispute resolution practice in Moscow. The Moscow office of Norton Rose (Central Europe) LLP now has eight partners and four Of Counsel.

Norton Rose LLP has made four other recent lateral partner hires:

  • Ex-DLA Piper partner Marc d’Haultfoeuille to the Paris Corporate team as an IP & IT, outsourcing/offshoring specialist.
  • Ex-Ashurst partner Ashley Wright to the Singapore Banking team as an energy specialist to lead the oil and gas team in Asia Pacific.
  • Ex-Clifford Chance consultant Charlotte Robins to the Hong Kong Corporate team as a financial services specialist.
