Norton Rose Australia appoints leading Construction & Engineering Partner

Leading construction and engineering partner Peter Borg has joined Norton Rose Australia as part of its strategy to strengthen its cross border capabilities.

Peter joins Norton Rose Australia from Pinsent Masons, Hong Kong, where he was a partner in the Projects & International Construction Division.

Peter’s appointment will not only serve to strengthen the practice’s Construction & Engineering group but also underpins their strategic growth objectives. Peter’s depth of skill and experience in this area will add weight to our offering across the region.

Peter began his career at BHP Billiton. He worked there for seven years firstly as a Legal Officer and then Project Engineer. Peter moved to Freehills in 1998, Mallesons in 1999 and to Hong Kong in 2002 where he joined Mayer Brown JSM. Peter joined Pinsent Mason in 2004.

Peter has extensive construction and contract administration experience and is known for dealing with technically complex issues. His major clients include Acciona, Downer, Maeda-Hitachi-Yogogawa-Hsin Cong, China State (China’s largest construction company), Leighton Asia, Wind Prospect, Cathay Pacific and Transfield Obayashi.

Peter completed a BA in Law and a BA in Engineering at Queensland University of Technology qualifying in 1990. Peter is also a qualified engineer and helicopter pilot. He will be based in the Brisbane Construction & Engineering group.

Peter’s appointment is the 8th lateral partner hire for Norton Rose Australia since the merger announcement.
