Norton Rose Fulbright strengthens shipping and offshore practice in Singapore

Global legal practice Norton Rose Fulbright has announced the arrival of Russel Low as a shipping and offshore of counsel in its Singapore office.

Russel joins from the Singapore arm of a formal law alliance with an international law firm where he has been an associate director for four years. Prior to this, he was a solicitor in the Singapore office of another international law firm for three years.

Russel’s practice is focused on offshore shipping and construction, which covers engineering and construction contracts (EPC/EPCI), ship/rig building projects and disputes, drill rig and FPSO charter parties, management and operational contracts, sale and leaseback of offshore vessels, service and management contracts and supply chain/procurement contracts.

He will work closely with shipping and offshore partners Gervais Green, Ben Rose, Robert Driver and Ian Teare in Singapore.

The Singapore shipping team is part of Norton Rose Fulbright’s wider Asia Pacific shipping practice which includes partners Jonathan Silver, Jim James and Davide Barzilai in Hong Kong; Fei Kwok in Beijing and Shanghai; Adrian Joyce and Jeremy Gibb in Tokyo; and Ernest van Buuren and Hazel Brasington in Australia.

Norton Rose Fulbright is continuing to grow its shipping and offshore practice throughout the Asia Pacific region and Russel’s appointment follows the addition of Jonathan Silver as a partner in the Hong Kong office in October and the hire of Hazel Brasington in Melbourne in August.

Gervais Green, Head of the Asia Pacific shipping, offshore oil and gas and finance, commented:

“Russel’s experience will further enhance our Singapore offering, as well as our market leading shipping and offshore practice across the Asia Pacific region, which includes teams in Australia, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing and Tokyo. We have seen a rise in demand for legal services from the offshore sector across Asia, and in relation to FPSO and FSRU projects in particular.”

Norton Rose Fulbright is ranked in Band 1 in Chambers Asia Pacific 2014 for shipping finance in Asia Pacific and Singapore and is praised as having “a tremendous reputation for ship finance. They provide worldwide coverage and act for our businesses wherever they are located.”
