Private Equity and M&A Partner Frank Sun Joins Kirkland Asia

Kirkland & Ellis is pleased to announce that Frank Sun has rejoined the Firm as a partner in Kirkland’s Hong Kong M&A Group. Mr. Sun joins the Firm from the Hong Kong office of Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP.

“Frank’s extensive experience in complex private equity and M&A transactions adds substantial horsepower to our already extensive China capabilities,” said Kirkland Hong Kong corporate partner David Zhang.

Mr. Sun focuses his practice on M&A, private equity and complex corporate transactions in China and across Asia. Clients he has represented in recent years include the Carlyle Group, Capital International, CCB International, CITIC Capital, KKR, Morgan Stanley Private Equity Asia, Silver Lake and Temasek.

Mr. Sun has also focused on capital markets transactions, including high-yield bond offerings, debt tender offers and U.S. IPOs. From 2007 to 2008, he was an associate in Kirkland’s New York office, representing private equity buyers in M&A transactions as well as fund formation, secured lending and refinancing transactions.

Mr. Sun holds an LL.M. from Harvard Law School, an LL.M. from University College London and an LL.M. and LL.B. from Peking University School of Law.
