Squire Sanders Hires Financial Services Team in Sydney

Squire Sanders has significantly expanded its Financial Services Practice Group with the appointment of partner Tom Lennox, who joins the firm’s Sydney office with a team of lawyers from DibbsBarker.

With over 30 years’ banking and finance experience, Mr. Lennox is recognized as one of Australia’s leading lawyers in this field. He spent 19 years at Mallesons, where he was partner in charge of the firm’s Sydney and Hong Kong offices. He was also the General Counsel and Company Secretary for Allco Finance Group before joining DibbsBarker in 2009.

A structured finance specialist, Mr. Lennox has particular experience within the aviation and real estate sectors. His practice complements the firm’s existing M&A, equity capital markets and private equity practices.

Also joining Squire Sanders’ Sydney office are senior associate Kate Prior and associate Abigail Sardinia, who have spent over six years at DibbsBarker. Ms. Prior and Ms. Sardinia bring considerable experience in structured finance, particularly in the areas of asset finance and project finance.

“With the recent hire of Josh Clarke in Perth and the Lennox team in Sydney, we now have finance capabilities spanning Australia,” said John Poulsen, Australian managing partner of Squire Sanders. “We are looking to expand our services in a number of key areas where we are experiencing client demand. We want to add high-quality lawyers, such as Tom and his team, who share our enthusiasm for a national and international platform and can add value to the services we provide.”

Campbell Davidson, office managing partner of Squire Sanders in Sydney, added: “We are excited to bring Tom, Kate and Abigail to Squire Sanders. They possess tremendous experience and know-how, together with an enviable reputation in the local market. Their arrival gives us real strength and depth from a financial services perspective, and will also enhance our services to clients in a number of key areas, notably corporate, projects and infrastructure.”

“The opportunity to join a first-class team of lawyers on the ground, and to be able to work with colleagues across the firm’s global platform, are among the reasons I’m pleased to be part of Squire Sanders,” said Mr. Lennox.

Mr. Lennox is the fourth partner to join Squire Sanders in Sydney since the office launched in November 2012, following the arrival of corporate partners Campbell Davidson from Allens and Richard Horton from DLA Piper, and construction partner Avendra Singh from Colin Biggers & Paisley.
