Troutman Sanders Expands Energy Practice in China

Troutman Sanders LLP announced today that Lynia Lau has joined the firm as a consultant in the Energy practice, based in its Hong Kong and Beijing Offices. Lau was previously a partner and head of Energy and Resources at Stephenson Harwood.

Lau was formerly a commodity trader and business development manager with BP Amoco and Sinopec in China, Hong Kong, Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore, Australia, U.K., and in the U.S. She has more than ten years of experience in a variety of disciplines including industrial experience in oil and gas, energy-related M&A, logistic operations, strategic planning, project development, finance and operations.

Lau advises on cross-border energy and infrastructure projects. Her work encompasses long- term take or pay liquefied natural gas (LNG) sales and purchase agreements, LNG terminal use agreements, LNG vessel time and voyage charter parties, engineering, procurement and construction contracts for LNG plants, and floating LNG production plants and natural gas pipeline agreements. She worked on the first LNG import terminal and trunk-line in China in 2000 and handled the first contract for LNG purchases between a Chinese buyer and a U.S. seller.

Lau also assists major banks with disputes that arise out of cross-border infrastructure and energy projects and shipping finance.

Lau holds the Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of London, a Ph.D. from

Peking University, a Masters of Commerce degree from Deakin University and a Bachelor of Business Administration from The Chinese University of Hong Kong.
