BLP Announces Plans to Open in Hong Kong

BLP today announced that it plans to open an office in Hong Kong as part of its wider Asian strategy.

The focus will be on providing a world-class legal service for international clients investing in China with a particular emphasis on capital intensive businesses such as retail, hotels and leisure, oil and gas, energy, utilities, mining and aviation, real estate and infrastructure assets. The new office will also give the firm a presence in the Greater China region to support Chinese clients.

The Hong Kong team will be multi-disciplinary and the majority of team members will be recruited locally and multi-lingual.

The move follows significant investment by the firm in Singapore and South-East Asia, where it recently doubled in size following the hire of new office head Alistair Duffield and a team of lawyers from Holman Fenwick Willan. It is also mirrors BLP’s highly successful move in the Middle East and North Africa, where its Abu Dhabi office has firmly establish itself as the leading legal advisor in the region on all aspects of the built environment as well as providing a base from which to address the needs of local investors as they diversify.

Neville Eisenberg, BLP’s Managing Partner, said: “Hong Kong will give us the opportunity to better serve our clients in the China region and is a further step in the development of our Asia strategy.
