DLA Piper Signs Focus Firm Agreement in Mongolia

DLA Piper is pleased to announce the signing of an agreement with C&G Partners LLC (“C&G”) in Mongolia which will see them become a DLA Piper Focus Firm.

C&G Partners is one of Mongolia’s leading law firms and is very well placed with the significant political and business institutions in this rapidly developing economy. C&G’s excellent reputation both within Mongolia and the region is well founded.

Driven by strong resource-linked investments and hard commodity exports, Mongolia was one of the fastest growing economies in the world in 2010. Mongolia benefits from a significant and strategic position between Russia and China, the world’s two fastest growing BRIC economies. Our extensive research has confirmed a growing need for specialised legal services in this jurisdiction and by working closely with C&G we believe that there will be excellent opportunities across a host of areas including, mining, capital markets, banking, project finance, hospitality and leisure and infrastructure.

Alastair Da Costa, DLA Piper’s Asia Pacific Managing Director, commented: “The relationship with C&G Partners will enable the firm to have a presence in an emerging economy where our clients are doing increasing volumes of business. Mongolia is attracting considerable investment from neighbouring G20 economies, Russia, China, Korea, Japan and Australia and as such it is an important market for us to engage with. As a DLA Piper Focus Firm, C&G is our law firm of choice in Mongolia.

Together, we will continue to support our existing clients as well as attract and develop opportunities for new work, delivering integrated, quality legal services to the market. As a Focus Firm, C&G will gain access to some aspects of DLA Piper’s know how and resources.”

Sainzaya Chimid, Managing Partner of C&G Partners, commented “We are delighted with this arrangement and the opportunity it creates for our clients to access the considerable resources and expertise DLA Piper offers across its global platform. We look forward to continuing our relationship with DLA Piper and capitalising on substantial inbound and outbound work occurring in Mongolia at present.”

The relationship with C&G Partners will be managed by Steven Liu (Beijing), Paul Lee (Hong Kong) and Martin Navias (London/Moscow).
