Herbert Smith Expands Singapore International Capital Markets Practice

Herbert Smith today announced it has enhanced its equity & debt capital markets practice in Singapore, including US securities capability, as part of its full-service regional offering. The practice is led by Austin Sweeney, the firm’s managing partner for South East Asia, who has significant experience in both corporate & capital markets transactions. Siddhartha Sivaramakrishnan and Felipe Duque have relocated from other Herbert Smith offices to form the core of the US securities team in Singapore. The Singapore team will work closely with the firm’s global capital markets practice in Hong Kong and London.

Herbert Smith has one of the leading capital markets practices in Asia. The team has extensive IPO and other international capital markets experience across regional markets and key sectors, including energy, real estate and industrials. It also has solid debt capital markets experience, including convertible, investment-grade and high-yield debt.

The capital markets practice focuses on representing issuers and underwriters across South East Asia and India and has already won a number of significant instructions in these jurisdictions. The firm also offers integrated US, UK, Hong Kong, Singapore and Indonesia law capability on cross-border deals through long-standing association with the leading Indonesian law firm, Hiswara Bunjamin & Tandjung (HBT) in Jakarta. David Dawborn, a senior Herbert Smith partner seconded full-time to HBT, is recognised as a leading Indonesian capital markets lawyer.
