Squire Sanders announced today that it has applied to the Korean Ministry of Justice to open an office in Seoul, Korea. The announcement follows the ratification of the Korea-U.S. Free Trade Agreement, which will come into effect on March 15, 2012.
James J. Maiwurm, Squire Sanders chair and global CEO, said: “Our plan to open an office in Korea is based on real depth of knowledge and experience in advising Korea-based companies and multinational clients doing business in Korea.
“The opening of an office in Korea is a logical next step in our commitment to develop and grow our long-standing presence in the Asia Pacific region. Combined with our existing strength in China and Japan, as well as our recent expansion in Australia and anticipated opening in Singapore, the Korea office is an important part of Squire Sanders’ Asia Pacific growth strategy.”
Squire Sanders’ efforts in Korea are being led by partner Joon Yong Kim, who will be relocating to Seoul to head up the new office, and corporate partner Edward Ghiyun Kim.
