Allens acts on A$332 Million FreightLink Sale

Allens Arthur Robinson (Allens) has advised receivers and managers KordaMentha on the sale of the assets of FreightLink Pty Ltd, Asia Pacific Transport Pty Ltd and related corporate entities (together FreightLink) to Genesee & Wyoming Inc for A$332 million.

FreightLink owns the Adelaide-to-Darwin railway.

Allens Partners Richard Gordon, Vijay Cugati and John Warde worked with Senior Associate Tim Robinson and Lawyers Clare McNeill and Michael Scarf to advise KordaMentha on the transaction.

‘Allens has worked with KordaMentha on a number of significant receivership sales over the past year,’ Mr Gordon said.

‘We are very pleased to have worked again with the their team.’

Mr Cugati said the KordaMentha matter is among several high-profile infrastructure-related transactions with which Allens has been involved. These include acting for the Queensland Government on the initial public offer of Queensland Rail; the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board on separate bids for InToll and Transurban; for the receivers on the sale of the Lane Cove Tunnel; and on the restructuring of Alinta.

‘Coming out of the Global Financial Crisis, we are expecting to see more restructuring and investment-related infrastructure transactions,’ Mr Cugati said.

‘Along with agriculture and energy and resources, this is one of the busier corporate and restructuring sectors at the moment.’
