Clifford Chance Advises APA Group on Acquisition of Amadeus Gas Pipeline in Australia’s Northern Territory

Leading international law firm Clifford Chance has advised APA Group on its acquisition of 100% of the Amadeus Gas Pipeline for approximately A$63 million.

The Amadeus Gas Pipeline delivers gas to Darwin from the gas fields in Palm Valley near Alice Springs, some 1,600km away.

This, coupled with the development of the Bonaparte and Wickham Point pipelines in the Northern Territory, brings APA Group’s investment in the Northern Territory to several hundreds of millions of Australian dollars.

APA Group is Australia’s largest natural gas infrastructure business, owning and/or operating more than A$8 billion of gas transmission and distribution assets.  Clifford Chance lawyers have worked on APA Group’s development and acquisition projects for over 10 years.

“We are very pleased to continue our long association with APA Group – our lawyers have advised APA Group since its initial listing in 2000,” said partner Mark Pistilli. “It is particularly pleasing to see the gas infrastructure network in the Northern Territory completed and in the hands of APA Group – and we wish them and the Northern Territory government continued success in helping to meet the Territory’s growing energy needs.”

The Clifford Chance team was led by Mark Pistilli, assisted by senior associates Joni Henry and Amelia Horvath. All are based in Sydney.
