Ford Motor Company has completed the sale of Volvo Car Corporation and related assets to the Zhejiang Geely Holding Group Company Limited.
The closing of this transaction, described as Sweden’s “deal of the decade” when announced in March 2010, marks the start of a new era for Gothenburg-based Volvo cars as well as one of the boldest investments yet by a Chinese company in the West.
Ford was represented in the transaction by Mannheimer Swartling and Hogan Lovells. Mannheimer Swartling’s team, which consisted of over 50 lawyers at different times, was led by Gothenburg-based M&A partner Clas Nyberg and Stockholm M&A partner Adam Green, with partners André Andersson, Niklas Sjöblom, Martin Nilsson and Henrik Diefke heading up the firm’s finance, IP, tax and employment teams, respectively.
