Freshfields Advises China Guangdong Nuclear Power Corp on its Acquisition of Meiya Power

International law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer has advised China Guangdong Nuclear Power Corp (CGNPC), a major Chinese state-owned nuclear power corporation on its acquisition of Meiya Power Company Limited (MPC) from Standard Chartered Private Equity and Noonday Asset Management. MPC is a leading north Asian independent power producer providing clean and sustainable energy with investments in 22 power projects currently in operation in China and the Republic of Korea.

Commenting on the deal, Freshfields partner Chris Wong said, “This is a hugely significant outbound transaction for China Guangdong Nuclear. Meiya Power will become the platform for CGNPC’s international expansion programme and will significantly broaden its portfolio of investments in clean energy in Asia.
