Herbert Smith Freehills Advises Wolseley Private Equity and Caxton on the Acquisition of Geon Assets

Herbert Smith Freehills has advised Blue Star Group Australia, jointly owned by Wolseley Private Equity and Caxton, on its acquisition of print assets from the GEON Group.

The transaction, which completed on Wednesday 13 March, involved the acquisition by Blue Star Group Australia of certain assets of GEON, which is presently under receivership.

Herbert Smith Freehills Partner Peter Dunne led the acquisition team, supported by Jessica Selby, John Blake and Jennifer Lam. Brisbane Partner Peter Smith and Leyton Cronk also provided advice on the acquisition.

Partner Hayley Neilson and Nicholas Carney led the Herbert Smith Freehills finance team. The Herbert Smith Freehills employment team was led by Michael Gonski.

Peter Dunne said, ‘having recently advised Wolseley and Caxton on the acquisition of the Blue Star business, it was great to implement a follow on acquisition so quickly after the first transaction.’

This was one of a number of transactions Herbert Smith Freehills has advised Wolseley Private Equity on in recent times, including the house’s acquisition of Blue Star’s Australian operations in late 2012.
