Herbert Smith Freehills has advised Wolseley Private Equity on its acquisition of Blue Star Group’s Australian operations.

The transaction, which completed on Thursday 8 November, involved the acquisition by Wolseley Private Equity, together with CaxtonWeb CEOs Geoff Selig and Paul Selig, of the Australian operations of the Blue Star Group, to form the Caxton Print Group.

Herbert Smith Freehills partner Peter Dunne led the acquisition team, supported by Jessica Selby, Jennifer Lam, James Schoeffer, Alexandra Sweeney, John Blake and Susannah Morris.

The Herbert Smith Freehills finance team was led by partner Hayley Neilson, supported by Nicholas Carney and Hayden Guthrie.

‘The teamwork and experience of the Wolseley and CaxtonWeb executive and advisory teams was crucial in facilitating the transaction in what was an aggressive time frame,’ said Peter Dunne.

Hayley Neilson said: ‘It was a pleasure to work with Wolseley again and be part of a significant transaction for the house.’

Herbert Smith Freehills has a long standing relationship with Wolseley Private Equity and has advised the house on a number of Merger and Acquisition transactions (and subsequent refinancing transactions), including in relation to their investments in CoxGomyl, Pacific Services Group, NextMedia, Transonic and Abergeldie.

Finance and tax advice on the transaction was provided by KPMG.
