Hilding Anders acquires Askona, Russia’s leading bed manufacturer

Hilding Anders has acquired Russia’s leading bed manufacturer Askona. Askona has manufacturing and retail operations in Russia with approximately 1,100 employees and turnover of approximately SEK 700 million.

Hilding Anders is the leading manufacturer of bed and mattresses in Europe, Russia and Asia. The Group, with headquarters in Malmö, Sweden and owned by the investment companies Candover and MezzVest, has approximately 6,000 employees, a presence in 40 markets throughout Europe and Asia, and pro forma turnover in 2009 of SEK 6.7 billion.

Hilding Anders was advised by Mannheimer Swartling on the matter. The firm’s team handling the transaction was led by Lars Kongstad, primarily assisted by Lucas Jonsson. Victor Topadze advised on Russian law, primarily assisted by Dmitry Gorbatov as well as by Elena Dolgolapteva (due diligence coordination), Vera Gorbacheva (real estate matters), Nadezhda Ilyushina (corporate and labor issues) and Alexander Potapov (competition filings).
