Taylor Wessing Advises Infrastructure India plc on Wind Farm Investment

Taylor Wessing has advised investment company Infrastructure India plc (‘IIP’) on its £11 million takeover of AIM listed Indian Energy Limited.

IIP focuses on investments into Indian infrastructure assets. Indian Energy Limited is an independent power producer focused on wind farms in India, which currently owns and operates 41.3 MW across two wind farms.  Through this acquisition, IIP has further diversified its investment portfolio with exposure to the wind capital markets in India, creating additional opportunities for income generation and capital growth.

Taylor Wessing advised IIP on all aspects of the takeover, which was implemented by way of a scheme of arrangement that became effective on 21 September 2011.

Tandeep Minhas, the lead partner advising IIP, comments:

“This is the second acquisition successfully completed by IIP in the last 6 months, following its reverse takeover by Guggenheim Global Infrastructure Company in March 2011.”

The Taylor Wessing team advising IIP also included Edward Hooper (Senior Associate) and Katie Bennett (Associate – New Zealand qualified).

Fairfax I.S. was financial adviser to IIP, with Smith & Williamson Corporate Finance Limited acting as nominated adviser and joint broker.
Indian Energy Limited was advised by Covington & Burling LLP and Arden Partners plc.

Taylor Wessing is one of the leading international firms involved in inbound and outbound Indian investment. The Firm’s India Group recently advised Guggenheim Global Infrastructure and other entities on its reverse takeover of Infrastructure India Plc.
