Cooley LLP announced today that Pang Lee has joined the firm as a partner in its global private investment funds group. He will reside in the firm’s Shanghai office.
Prior to joining Cooley, Lee was counsel in the asset management group of Shearman & Sterling’s Hong Kong office. Lee’s practice is focused on the formation and operation of various private investment funds, including venture capital funds, buy-out funds and special situations funds. He regularly advises fund managers and fund investors on a range of investment management issues.
“Since opening our Shanghai office in 2011, Cooley’s Asia fund formation practice has nearly doubled in terms of the volume of deals it handles,” said Craig Dauchy, chair of the firm’s global venture capital practice. “Pang’s addition to our team furthers our growth trajectory in Asia. His fund formation acumen will enhance our overall capability to deliver our expertise to US and international clients alike.”
“Cooley has the top fund formation group in the United States,” said Pang Lee. “But it is Cooley’s commitment to and remarkable progress in China that excites me most about joining the firm. I look forward to continuing to build my practice while concurrently extending and strengthening Cooley’s venture capital leadership globally.”
Lee received his B.S. in Biology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and his J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School.
