Hogan Lovells Continues Asia Finance Practice Expansion With Fourth Lateral Hire This Year

Hogan Lovells has recruited partner Joseph Kim to join its Tokyo finance practice. Joe joins the firm today, 16 September, as a partner in the Infrastructure, Energy, Resources and Projects (IERP) team.

Joe joins Hogan Lovells from Paul Hastings in Tokyo and is a project finance lawyer focusing on power projects, upstream and midstream natural resource projects, and renewable energy projects, including LNG related. He has strong contacts with global clients such as Standard Chartered Bank, Marubeni, K-Exim and K-Sure. He will strengthen Hogan Lovells’ Japan and Korea outbound investment and financing offering as well as promote the firm’s global capabilities for projects involving Japanese and Korean cross-border investment projects.

Joe’s hire marks the fourth into Hogan Lovells Asia finance practice this year, and the seventh in Asia, following the announcement of IDCM partners Andy Ferris and Bronwen May; and BRI partner Shaun Langhorne.

Commenting on Joe’s arrival, Sharon Lewis, global head of Hogan Lovells’ finance practice, said:

“Joe’s expertise is highly sought after in the Asia market – Japanese and Korean based financing is playing an increasingly important role in global infrastructure transactions and his presence on the ground in Tokyo will be a great asset in furthering the reach of our IERP practice globally.”

Joe added:

“Hogan Lovells’ global network of offices provides me with the ideal platform to win work on large-scale global transactions on Japanese and Korean financed projects and to work with the IERP team to grow our Japan and Korea outbound business.”
