June China Lateral Moves Summary

The month of June saw many legal career moves in mainland China. Here are some of the highlights:

Cooley welcomes partner Christina Zhang, and Benjamin Qiu, an associate, in the firm’s Shanghai office. Ms. Zhang has extensive experience in the area of science and technology law.  Her legal career began at Paul Weiss in 1993, and she has continued to expand her practice. Mr. Qiu most recently served as the Vice President and Asia Pacific General Counsel at Johnson Controls, Inc. and had prior positions with Innovation Works and Hogan Lovells.

King & Wood Mallesons announced the arrival of three lateral hires: partner Dirk Walker, counsel Dina Yin, and an associate. Both attorneys have extensive experience in oil & gas related matters, with Mr. Walker joining from Dewey in Bejing and Ms. Yin from Linklaters in Bejing.

Pinsent Masons welcomes two lateral hires, Dr. Bernd-Uwe Stucken and Liu Wei, both specializing in Corporate, Mergers and Acquisitions and Commercial work.  Dr. Stucken joins from Salans in Shanghai. Mr. Wei also joins from Salans.

Former Pfizer in-house counsel Jon Tan has joined Reed Smith’s Global Regulatory Enforcement Group in Shanghai as a counsel.

Steve Yu has joined Armstrong Teasdale as a partner in the firm’s Shanghai office as part of a significant expansion of its IP, dispute resolution, transactional and franchising practices. Mr. Yu is a corporate attorney with fourteen years experience in cross-border transactions.

Employment attorney Brinton M. Scott has joined Winston & Strawn in Shanghai.  He is a lateral hire from Clyde & Co and brings associates Jerry Liu and Sabrina Yang to the firm.
