King & Wood Mallesons Appoints Leading Native Title Expert

King & Wood Mallesons has strengthened its Native Title practice with the lateral appointment of partner Scott Singleton to the firm’s Brisbane office.

Scott will join the firm from Minter Ellison later this year where he currently leads their Native Title practice and is a prominent partner in their Energy and Resources Group.

In addition to his strong Native Title and Indigenous cultural heritage expertise, Scott will bring with him a wealth of experience and specialist skills in mining and petroleum tenure and operational mining; land access; climate change and renewable energy; as well as mining associated corporate and commercial work.

Scott’s strong skillset in the mining and oil & gas sectors coupled with his climate change and renewable energy expertise will bring a powerful mix to the firm’s flourishing Energy, Resources and Projects practice and his experience advising on some of Queensland’s largest and most complex infrastructure projects will complement the firm’s Real Estate, Construction and Environment team.

King & Wood Mallesons Chairman, Australia, Tim Bednall said: “We are very pleased to welcome Scott. His appointment reflects the firm’s strategic focus on deepening our front end energy and resources and infrastructure capabilities in native title, procurement, land access and construction. His expert knowledge of managing complex native title, Indigenous cultural heritage, mining and petroleum tenure issues and regulatory approvals will enhance the firm’s existing expertise and provide clients with a compelling full-service offering.”

Scott has a unique blend of government and private practice experience, having held senior positions in the Queensland Government prior to joining Minter Ellison.
