K&L Gates Adds Perth Energy Partner

The Perth office of global law firm K&L Gates LLP has added Alex Eastwood as a partner in the energy, infrastructure and resources practice. Previously, Eastwood served as General Counsel with Gryphon Minerals Ltd.

Eastwood has nearly 20 years of experience in advising ASX listed and private companies, predominantly in the energy and resources, mining services, and technology sectors. For the past 14 months, he played an integral role in the senior management team of Gryphon Minerals, advising on corporate governance, executive remuneration, and legal aspects in relation to the permitting and project funding of the Banfora Gold Project in Burkina Faso, West Africa.

“I am delighted to be joining the Perth office of K&L Gates,” said Eastwood. “The Perth team are all highly experienced veterans in the mining, energy, and resources space. With the global platform of K&L Gates, they are also in an enviable position of being able to provide their clients with a global and fully integrated service offering on a cost competitive basis. I believe this is something truly unique in Perth and can only benefit our clients as we help them grow their businesses globally.”

Nick Nichola, K&L Gates’ Managing Partner, Australia, stated: “Alex is a welcomed addition to our rapidly expanding energy, infrastructure and resources team in Perth. He is a first class operator and a very experienced lawyer having worked both in-house and in private practice. He understands what clients are looking for in their legal services provider and no one comes more highly qualified than Alex.”

Eastwood joins a growing energy, infrastructure and resources practice, with K&L Gates also having added Doha partner Matthew Walker, Singapore partner Lian Yok Tan, Seattle partners David L. Benson and David P. Hattery, and London partners Mike Stewart and Anthony Fine to the practice in recent months.
